Book It

Book It by Modern Mustard Seed

Book It lets people find local home-service and trade businesses inside Claude and ChatGPT, see the services and price ranges those businesses set themselves, check the windows they take work, and send a booking request the business confirms. Every listing is the business's own information, entered by the business in its portal.

Example prompts

Can someone fix my furnace Thursday in 59901? It runs but blows cold air.
What does Juniper Ridge Roofing charge for a roof repair, and are they free next week?
Find a plumber in 59937 for a leaking water heater and send them a request for tomorrow morning. My name is Sam, my number is 406-555-0188.

How businesses are ordered

Only businesses enrolled in Book It that list this trade and serve this ZIP appear. Businesses with a service matching the stated need come first. Within that, the order is a fair daily rotation (a shuffle seeded by the date, ZIP and trade), so each business leads about equally often. Placement is never sold: every business pays the same set price, and no one can pay to rank higher. Book It does not rank by reviews or ratings.

Prices

Book It only repeats a range a business typed into its own portal, labelled as that business's range and not a quote. When a business entered no range, the tools say so. Book It never estimates, averages or invents a price.

Booking requests and consent

A request is never a confirmed appointment. The business receives it by email and in its inbox and calls or texts the person to set the time. Before request_booking runs, the person agrees to this text, with the business's name filled in:

I agree that the business may call or text me at the phone number I gave about this request. This is a request, not a confirmed appointment: the business confirms a time with me directly. Book It by Modern Mustard Seed passes my name, phone number, ZIP, what I need and my preferred time to the business, keeps them only so the business can answer, and does not sell or share them with anyone else.

Phone numbers must be US or Canadian. Numbers that ring in +1 Caribbean or Pacific territories and premium-rate codes are refused, and so are the fictional 555-0100 to 555-0199 numbers except on demo listings.

Limits

  • find_provider: 20,000 calls a day across all users, 600 an hour for one business or ZIP.
  • get_services: 40,000 calls a day across all users, 600 an hour for one business or ZIP.
  • quote_range: 40,000 calls a day across all users, 600 an hour for one business or ZIP.
  • check_availability: 40,000 calls a day across all users, 600 an hour for one business or ZIP.
  • request_booking: 3,000 calls a day across all users, 60 an hour for one business or ZIP.
  • Booking requests: one open request per phone number per business per 24 hours, 10 minutes on demo listings (a repeat returns the first), 4 per phone number per day across all businesses, and 8 an hour and 25 a day per business.

Limits are global and never per IP. A limit returns a normal tool result that says when to try again.

Data handling

  • Business listings are first-party data: each business enters and controls its own, and can export or delete it at any time.
  • The read tools store nothing about the person asking. Logs keep the tool name, the business or ZIP asked about, timing and status for 30 days.
  • request_booking stores the five fields above, the consent text and its time, for the business that received it. Book It does not sell or share them, and sends no marketing to the person.
  • No model calls, no third-party data sources at request time. Trade names come from the Local Trades Kit taxonomy; ZIP areas from the US Census Bureau (public domain).

Full policy: Privacy. Terms: Terms.

Reviewer test instructions

No account is needed. Three fictional demo businesses are always listed in the Flathead Valley, Montana (ZIPs 59901, 59937, 59912 and nearby) and appear only where no real business covers that trade and ZIP. Their phone numbers are in the fictional 555-01xx range and requests to them reach no one.

  1. find_provider with trade "hvac", zip "59901", need "furnace blows cold air" returns Larkspur Heating and Air.
  2. get_services with business_id "larkspur-heating-and-air" returns its services, ranges and consent text.
  3. quote_range with business_id "juniper-ridge-roofing" and service "Roof repair" returns the business's range; service "Roof inspection" returns no range, by design.
  4. check_availability with business_id "copper-kettle-plumbing" returns dated windows with window_id values.
  5. request_booking to any demo business with customer_phone "406-555-0188", customer_zip "59901", a need, a window_id and consent_confirmed true returns status demo_request_recorded and a BK- reference. Sending it again within 10 minutes returns already_sent (real listings hold duplicates for 24 hours).
  6. Refusals to try: consent_confirmed false; customer_phone "649-345-2024" (rings in Turks and Caicos); customer_zip "10001" (outside the demo service areas).

Troubleshooting

  • An empty provider list means no enrolled business covers that trade and ZIP yet. Book It does not list businesses that did not enroll.
  • "Window is not open" means the window passed, falls inside the business's notice period, or is a day off. Call check_availability again for current windows.
